phpWebsite started rolling on with the release of version 0.7.0 on January 29th 2001 as a fork of PHPNuke. The complete re-write of it started emerging in March 2002. phpWebsite is programmed by the use of PHP scripts and utilizes the PHP Extension and Application Repository libraries.

A CMS that is frequently used by the community groups and education users. Although it got designed to offer to the public, nonetheless its focus poured on serving Appalachian State University. ESS (Electronic Student Services) department at the university developed it in order to make it smooth and easy for the staff to build and update their websites.

This is quite customizable and each of the components is installed, updated and modified by the phpWebSite administrator. Selectable themes and HTML templates can be used as well.
